Hi there! My name is Gideon. I’m really fond of good company and meaningful moments. I’m not big on coffee, sorry! or tea for that matter :( I'm amused by an overcast day. Rain makes the world a little calmer I guess, maybe? I’m a struggling runner, but that’s just coz I’m too lazy. I do prefer long walks though. When I’m not in the company of coffee drinkers (peer pressure is a real thing!) I spend my time with my lovely wife and daughter. We live in Dublin, Ireland at the moment. And when the time is right we take our annual excursions back home to sunny South Africa.
I have an MA in theology, I also have other minor certificates in Greek Classical Thought and English grammar. I love art, music, and literature. The good old movies are also a big part of my life. I spend most of my time reading and writing. I'm currently working on a novel that I hope to publish some time in the future. I will be sharing updates on the novel's progress on a separate newsletter coming soon (find out more at info@gideondiego.com). The blog is an outlet of sorts, a way of continuing some of the thoughts and conversations that have welled up in time from many rich sources and intriguing friends - some long gone and others still alive. Every now and then an apple will fall off a tree and land on my head, then a new idea pops up, and voila a blog will suddenly appear. Haha, not really, sometimes it feels more like digging for gold in an endless pool of mud! It can be quite laborious. But I guess that's the trick of our time: with everything being so readily available things have lost their spark, maybe it's time we start digging a little deeper in the mud for those meaningful things that could make this world a better place.
Thank you for visiting the site. I hope you’ve found some joy being here.
Here's a little wave to you from my little one!
